As the previews draw to a close, all the acts and all the venues can only cross their fingers and hope that they’ve done enough to prepare for the might and size of the Fringe – but what does it take to run a venue? William Burdett-Coutts is the Director of the Assembly Rooms, one of the blue-ribband venues at the Fringe, and I managed to get 15 minutes of his very valuable time to ask about his time at the Fringe, the highlights of the programme, and where you find all the acts.

And speaking of the acts, one of the most unusual sounding acts (both in person and creatively) is Impropera. A portmanteu of Improvised Music and Opera, there’s a high dash of comedy with your culture. Where else could you find songs on both Heroes and Minidisc Records but on the Edinburgh Fringe Podcast?

Do feel free to leave your comments in the website or email me on ewanspence@gmail.com. See you Monday!

  1. Paul H Says:

    Great show.
You’re right, Ewan, it’s like a backstage pass.
Really wish we could be there now, next year will have to do.
I hope Impropera will return. Definitely interested in catching one of their performances. Great to hear some samples on the show too. Cool.
The car demolition thing in the stomp style sounds intriguing also.
Looking forward to the next report from the EFF2007.
    Cheers!
