A big welcome to readers of Scottish Snippets on Rampant Scotland, one of the largest mailing lists and websites for people interested in Scotland. They had some nice things to say about the Edinburgh Fringe Podcast, and just how big an endeavour it can be.
Edinburgh Fringe Underway
The world’s biggest arts festival gets underway on Sunday with the Edinburgh Cavalcade, an inter-festival parade as performers, floats and marching bagpipers make their way through the streets of the Capital. The Fringe sells over 1.35 million tickets worth more than £10 million for 28,000 performances by 17,000 artists at 261 venues. Trying to keep up with all that’s going on is a superhuman effort, but one good way of doing so (whether you are at the event or looking on from afar) is by means of the Edinburgh Fringe Podcast Network. It has lots of reviews, newsposts, interviews, blogs and - for those who prefer to listen to get their information verbally - there is a daily “Podcast” which can be heard on the site. Or download a half-hour show each day in mp3 format and transfer it to your iPod so you can hear about the Fringe perhaps as you race between shows.
