His mockery of musicians great and small is brilliantly masked by a wry smile and throwaway style. “Great times, great times” he rhapsodizes after sending up late-90s pop quartet All Saints. It is this rose-tinted irony which makes the show, as it becomes impossible not to agree with Deering’s ridicule – he leaves you no other option.
